LAPLACE — An Ama man is behind bars, linked to an armed robbery Monday in LaPlace.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies first responded to an armed-robbery-with-a-gun report at 2:38 p.m. Monday on Whitlow Court in LaPlace.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said the victim, a 34-year-old Reserve woman, reported $240 was stolen from her.
No one was injured.
“The victim followed the perpetrator’s vehicle and provided 911 dispatchers with the vehicle’s description and location,” Tregre said in a release. “Responding deputies located and stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Belle Terre Boulevard and St. Andrews Boulevard.”
Detectives detained the female driver and male passenger as they investigated. Tregre said detectives eventually released the driver and arrested the passenger, identifying him as Darnell Harris Jr., 21, of Ama.
Harris was booked with armed robbery with a firearm. He remains in custody in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
