‘Unheard Voices of the German Coast’ tour planned

DESTREHAN — Unheard Voices of Louisiana, a cultural and educational tour company based in New Orleans, is offering a special evening tour at 5:45 p.m. July 24 at Destrehan Plantation called “Unheard Voices of the German Coast.”
“It focuses on the lives of the enslaved, free Afro-Creoles, German farmers and Acadians living alongside the plantation owners,” said Ronnie Schumann, licensed New Orleans tour guide and co-founder of Unheard Voices.
“We talk about food, music, slavery, Catholicism and Voodoo as part of the tour.”
Schumann and Unheard Voices co-founder Dianne Honore’ — a Destrehan family descendant — will lead the tour.
Tour admission is $39.99 and includes wine and cheese.
Unheard Voices is renting the plantation for the event and is handling reservations.
