LAPLACE — A LaPlace teenager was arrested earlier this month after her parents identified her in surveillance footage burglarizing her neighbor’s home.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 1700 block of East Frisco Drive in LaPlace June 23 for a burglary report.
“The homeowner’s security surveillance camera captured photos of the perpetrator gathering and removing items from her residence,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said via a release.
“The neighbors of the victim identified their daughter, Aalayah Banks, 17, as the perpetrator in the victim’s residence. Subsequently, with the cooperation of her neighbors, the victim recovered her stolen property from the neighbors’ daughter’s bedroom.”
Sgt. Dane Clement said a television, laptop computer and gaming system were among the stolen items recovered from Banks’ bedroom.
Banks was arrested July 8 and booked with simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property. Authorities said she bonded out of jail on $6,000 bond.
