LULING — United Way of St. Charles is hosting a Day of Action April 11 to distribute smoke alarms, batteries and fire safety literature to residents in St. Charles Parish.

The Day of Action is in partnership with Red Cross of Southeast Louisiana, as well as the Norco and Paradis Volunteer Fire Departments.

In support of this event, United Way of St. Charles is seeking volunteers interested in canvassing the Norco or Paradis communities.

A training session and lunch will be provided at the United Way of St. Charles Office in Luling, beginning at 11 a.m. April 11.

Volunteers will then drive to either the Norco or Paradis fire department and will canvass from 1 to 3 p.m.

Designated parking, water and snacks will be provided. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and must provide their own transportation to and from the sites.

Those interested in participating should contact Kelsey Matthews, United Way of St. Charles Volunteer Coordinator, at 985-331-9063 or kelseym@uwaysc.org.
