RESERVE — The bats of the Riverside Lady Rebels have come alive.

The Rebels have scored at least 16 runs in each of their past four games, most recently besting a red hot Belle Chasse team at home, 16-6.

Belle Chasse had won 11 consecutive games, and nearly all in dominant fashion, before Riverside’s 10-run rule victory in five innings Monday. Over that winning streak, Belle Chasse (16-5) outscored its competition 164-3.

But Riverside has been rolling as well, now winners of six of their last seven games, including four straight.

Janie Milioto was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Toni Perrin went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Hailey Tassin and Erica Delaneuville each drove in three runs, with Delaneuville socking a home run.

The Rebels were also aggressive on the bases, with Perrin, Milioto, Rayne Weber and Caitlin Roussel each notching a steal.

Pitching wise, Riverside (9-5) got a second straight strong outing from young Lexi Johnson, a seventh grader, who went four innings in her start to earn the win. Johnson allowed three earned runs on five hits, walked four and struck out six.

“We’ve been working Lexi in, seeing if she can pound the strike zone and give us some good innings,” Riverside coach Tamra Regalo said. “We’ve got a lot of confidence in our bats right now, as well. We’ve been getting better. We kind of went back to the drawing board and we stressed that we needed to calm down, don’t try to get everything in one swing. Scratch out one run at a time, and we’ll go from there.”

Riverside also rolled past Dominican Friday, taking a 17-3 victory.

Delaneuville hit another home run in that one, going 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Briley Becker was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Milioto was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Perrin went 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

Johnson earned the win for the Rebels.

Delaneuville is back in a groove for Riverside after missing the early portion of the season with a fractured hand, after she was hit by a pitch in a preseason scrimmage. Her bat has come alive.

“We’re glad to have her back,” Regalo said.

“We’ve been looking for her big bat in the middle of our lineup. “She’s really been locked in and, as you can see, she brings a lot of power.”
