LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Shop Local campaign recently ended with the close of the holiday season, but residents are encouraged to continuing supporting local merchants throughout the year, which ultimately supports the parish.
The campaign’s goal was to foster a greater sense of awareness of local businesses and to encourage shoppers to shop locally, especially during the holiday season.
The Shop Local Trivia Game was a huge success, officials said, and residents who correctly completed their Shop Local trivia cards were entered in a drawing to win prizes from local retailers.
To claim their prizes, winners listed should bring proper identification to the Parish President’s Office in the Percy Hebert Building, at 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“I would like to thank everyone who participated in our contest and congratulate our winners for their familiarity with St. John businesses and what they offer,” Parish President Natalie Robottom said.
Businesses are encouraged to register as a Shop Local business at sjbparish.com/shoplocal.
There is no cost for membership.
