LAPLACE — A LaPlace man with $16,000 worth of synthetic marijuana and stolen merchandise in his possession was arrested Monday.

Based on information received from a narcotics tip, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Office narcotics detectives responded at 4 p.m. Monday to the area of Cambridge Drive and Revere Drive in LaPlace looking for Roddy Johnson, 22, of Revere Drive.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said detectives received information Johnson was in possession of mojo, a street name for synthetic marijuana.

“Detectives located Johnson and recovered $16,000 worth of synthetic cannabinoid in his possession,” Tregre said in a press release, adding detectives also recovered a set of headphones still in store packaging in Johnson’s possession.

Tregre said Johnson was identified as the person who stole headphones from RadioShack earlier Monday.

Detectives arrested Johnson and booked him with distribution of cannabinoid/synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by shoplifting.

He remains in custody in lieu of a $32,000 bond and a probation/parole hold.

Johnson has been arrested 10 times in St. John Parish since November 2009, authorities said.
