HAHNVILLE — A Boutte man is wanted by police after a fatal shooting in the overnight hours at a bar in Hahnville.
St. Charles Sheriff Greg Champagne said Larry C. Thompson, a black male who turns 35 on Saturday, was developed as a suspect in the shooting due to a dispute between he and the victim over a female acquaintance.
Thompson is reported to live at 168 Boutte Estates Drive in Boutte.
An arrest warrant for Thompson for second degree murder and aggravated battery has been issued.
“Thompson is possibly driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala bearing LA license plate #XSN832,” Champagne said.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 12:30 a.m. today to a call of gunshots at Butt Cuts Bar, 242 Joe Louis Lane in Hahnville.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a subject on the floor inside the bar suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as David Scott, 23, of Houston was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities said they were unsure if Scott was staying in the area.
Champagne said detectives were later notified of a second victim who had arrived at St. Charles Hospital and had suffered a gunshot wound to the foot. This victim was treated and released from St. Charles Hospital. Capt. Patrick Yoes said the victim appears to be an innocent bystander.
Thompson should be considered armed and dangerous, Champagne said.
Anyone with information regarding the killing or Thompson’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111 or Detective Lance Richards at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807. Those who call may be eligible for a cash award for information leading to an arrest.
