St. Charles Catholic High School juniors and seniors in physics recently tested an important application of Newton’s laws of motion: automobile safety. The students designed cars with working crumple zones that protected raw egg passengers as the cars slid down a steep ramp and crashed into a brick wall. The safety devices had to be realistic, and the eggs had to have wiggle room. Pictured, Jere’ Collins watches as Alexis Tran releases her car and looks for success.
