Doris Elizabeth Luersen, born on Nov. 3, 1924, in San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2014, in Lutcher.
She graduated from San Marcos HS and attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College. She was a tour guide at San Francisco Plantation in Garyville for 25 years.
She was also an active member of many clubs and organizations in the community.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Luersen; parents Eddie and Norma Dedeke; brothers August and Eddie Dedeke Jr., and a sister Shirley Corbett.
Luersen is survived by her son, Gary Luersen; daughter-in-law, Carrie Luersen; and four grandchildren Matthew Luersen, Laurie Wahl (Daniel), Lindsey Sistrunk (Blake), and Christopher Luersen.
She is also survived by sisters Helen Leissner (Martin) and Edna Guttery, as well as a brother-in-law, Walter Carl Dedeke (Jan).
Visitation will be on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8:30 until 10:45 a.m. at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave. in Lutcher, followed by a religious service at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery mausoleum.
