LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School is gearing up for lots of homecoming fun.

SCC’s homecoming court is always made up of 13 ladies from grades eighth to 12th.

The ladies are voted on by their classmates.

The court is presented before the homecoming game Nov. 7 after the motorcade and again at halftime.

The SCC Homecoming Dance will follow Nov. 8 and is sponsored by the SCC student council. In addition, SCC sponsors dress down and other activities throughout the homecoming week.

SCC will have an Alumni Tent at the homecoming game, where members of the class of 1984 are invited to enjoy good food, football, fun and fellowship.

Gentlemen of the Class of 1984 are being invited to escort our 2014 Homecoming Court.

The 1984 Class Reunion will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Nov. 8 at Fatty’s Main Street Grill. For more information, members of the class of ’84 should email Connie Fisher Powell at conniefisherpowell@yahoo.com.

The St. Charles Catholic High School’s Alumni Association, chaired by Brock Anderson, is pleased to announce its Seventh Annual Alumni Cook-off in conjunction with our Homecoming activities on Nov. 7.

The Alumni Association is seeking entrants for this year’s contest and asks those interested in participating contact the school to officially sign up.

Entry forms are available on SCC’s website and are due by Oct. 31.

The head chef must be an SCC alumni, and contestants must supply their own ingredients or secure a sponsor to pay for the ingredients. The contestants will also supply all of their own cooking and serving utensils.

Food may be cooked offsite but should be cooked on Nov. 7.

All entries must be complete, delivered to St. Charles Catholic High School and ready to be served by 5:30 p.m.

Chefs wishing to cook on SCC grounds are welcome to do so, but no one will be allowed to begin cooking before 9 a.m. Cooking booths will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Any ingredient that accompanies a dish, such as rice or pasta, must be provided by the contestant, if applicable. However, these items may be prepared off site.

Each contestant must cook a recipe that will produce 100 servings.

Each contestant will be assigned a contestant’s number by the chief scorekeeper and be given containers in which their entry will be collected in time for the official judging.

Each contestant should make certain the number on the bottom of the container is the same as their contestant’s number assigned to them by the scorekeeper.

A prestigious group of judges including New Orleans Saints special teams Coach Greg McMahon will judge all entries.

After samples to be judged have been collected, an announcement will be made to start serving the public at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Contestants or their designees must serve their dish until 7:30 p.m. or until their pot is empty.

A First Place chef’s paddle decorated by SCC’s art class will be awarded.

For more information, or to sign up, visit stcharlescatholic.org or email Courtney Millet at millet.courtney@stcharlescatholic.org.

All are invited to come to the pre-game cook-off and enjoy some great River Parish cooking.

Attendees can buy one bowl for $5 or get four small taster bowls for $10. Dishes will include char-broiled oysters, shrimp ettouffe, crawfish rice and many others.

The public is invited to come out Nov. 7 to St. Charles Catholic in LaPlace to enjoy good food, fellowship and football.
