River Parishes Roundup: Destrehan tops Hahnville, St. James wins, Lutcher falls

DESTREHAN 24, HAHNVILLE 6 — Hahnville hung tough for much of the night against their fierce rivals, but Destrehan extended a 3-0 halftime advantage into an 18-point victory at home.
Destrehan remains undefeated with the win (5-0, 2-0 District 7-5A). Hahnville dropped to 2-3, 0-2 in district.
Kirk Merritt rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Will Matthews carried the ball 24 times for 110 yards. Hahnville’s lone score came on a 55-yard Austin Perrin-to-Brandon Singleton connection. Perrin passed for 139 yards and rushed for 73. Singleton caught eight passes for 125 yards.
ST. JAMES 63, FISHER 6 — St. James (2-3) dominated in district play Friday night, winning behind another sensational performance by Lowell Narcisse and Dontaze Costly and a dominant defensive effort.
Narcisse completed 17 of 25 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns, while carrying four times for 73 yards and a score. Costly hauled in five receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown. Rashaun Weber caught two touchdowns to go with 48 yards, while Mason Scott returned a punt for a touchdown.
EAST ASCENSION 48, LUTCHER 21 — After beating St. Charles Catholic earlier this season, the host Spartans (3-2) collected their second win over a River Parish team on Friday.
For Lutcher (3-2), Jontre Kirklin completed 28 of 46 pass attempts for 292 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Destin Porter caught nine passes for 92 yards, while Gavin Englade hauled in eight for 115 yards.
Joshua Walker led East Ascension with 115 yards on the ground.
