LAPLACE — The River Region Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) fall of 2014 class.

YEA! is a yearlong program that guides middle and high school students through launching and running their own real businesses or social movements. It is open to all students in grades sixth through 12th.

While in the Academy, students receive all the tools to launch their own real, legal businesses, including access to attorneys, accountants, business mentors and graphic designers. An audience with investors for real start-up cash will also be provided.

Students have the opportunity to win college scholarships, as well.

The YEA! application is available through the Chamber at 985-359-9777.

Program and scholarship applications must be postmarked by Oct. 15, the deadline for the YEA! Class of 2014-2015.

The selection process is competitive, and applicants are urged to apply.

YEA! classes will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at John L. Ory Magnet School in LaPlace.
