The Pontchartrain Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted its annual membership retreat in LaPlace at La Belle Place and Reception Center. Approximately 35 members of the volunteer service organization participated in the retreat that consisted of a business meeting, social activities and both breakfast and lunch. Several LaPlace-area businesses showcased their products and services during the retreat.
“Having our retreat in LaPlace provided our members an opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of the community and to learn more about the businesses in this area,” said Sarah Moody Thomas, president of the Pontchartrain Chapter of The Links Inc. “LaPlace is a short drive from New Orleans, so it’s easy for us to return.”
During the retreat at La Belle Place, members of the Pontchartrain Chapter enjoyed a continental
breakfast with piano music provided by Pastor Brian Lewis of Free Ministry in Edgard. The breakfast included a variety of pastries and locally made fig and strawberry preserves. Chapter members enjoyed a “La Belle – style” luncheon of Cornish hen, pasta Alfredo,
spring salad and homemade bread pudding with rum sauce. The members were entertained with a fashion show coordinated by local entrepreneur Shiray Lee of David Lee’s Boutique of LaPlace, followed by salsa dance lessons organized by local attorney, Abril Baloney Sutherland.
