A special lunch in St. John

Published 12:00 am Saturday, May 25, 2013

There’s an angel in St. John Parish, but contrary to how people envision angels as protecting and guiding us, this angel needs our help. Her name is Angel Perez. She is employed by the District Attorney’s Office while attending law school. Angel was diagnosed with juvenile discogenic disease, which has left her paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.
She’s been a public servant to the citizens of St. John and now she needs our help. Her medical bills have become too much to handle. She needs a body lift that will help her stand up and get out of her wheelchair. This will take pressure off of her hips and prevent her problem from becoming worse. The cost of the equipment is $5,500.
Her friends have come together and will have a benefit lunch fundraiser to help raise the necessary money to purchase the equipment. The lunch will be held on Wednesday, May 29, beginning at 11 a.m. The takeout lunches costing $7 will consist of pastalaya, bread, salad and dessert. The lunches will be served in front of the St. John Parish main office building across from Wal-Mart at 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace. For industrial or large orders that can be delivered, contact Brian at 225-323-5740.
The people of the River Parishes are noted for coming together to aid someone in need. We also don’t ever turn down a chance to enjoy a good meal. Next Wednesday, May 29, we have an opportunity to participate in both.
The Bible says it’s more blessed to give than to receive. Let’s get blessed by giving to Angel’s needs.
