Local contractor honored for safety

BATON ROUGE – The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance Inc. announced the winners of its 17th annual Contractor Safety Excellence Awards at a banquet held recently at the L’auberge Resort in Baton Rouge. The event, attended by approximately 600 guests, was held to recognize excellent safety performance by contractors working in industrial facilities throughout southeast Louisiana.  
GBRIA member Marathon Pe  troleum Company in Garyville no  minated their highest performing contractors, who have demonstrated a level of safety excellence that includes millions of hours worked without injury, a commitment by management to educate workers and a culture where accidents do not happen. Nominated by Marathon Petroleum, LaPlace-based Regal Industrial Group received its second Excellence in Safety award in as many years. More than 40 RIG personnel performed over 84,000 man-hours in 2012 without an incident or lost time accident.   
Established in 2011, Regal Industrial Group performs civil and building maintenance at Marathon’s Garyville refinery. Locally owned and operated, the organization has established a safety culture that has propelled it to the forefront of industrial safety and performance.
