Deputies investigating attempted robbery

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputies are currently investigating an attempted armed robbery took place early Monday morning in Reserve.
Officials responded to the 100 block of East 20th Street in Reserve for the report of a disturbance. The responding deputy saw a male subject fleeing the area upon arrival. The victim, a 27-year-old LaPlace man, at the location told deputies the fleeing male tried to rob him.
The victim told investigators the perpetrator approached him and asked for $20. When he told the perpetrator that he had nothing,
the perpetrator pulled out a box cutter and threatened the victim. After a brief chase and physical altercation, the victim managed to fight off the perpetrator until deputies arrived. The victim sustained a small cut on his right index finger, but he refused medical treatment.

Citizens that submit an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers may qualify for a cash reward.
