Despite the threat of severe weather for the latter half of the weekend, which prompted officials to move up the start time of LaPlace’s Krewe du Monde Sunday parade up one hour, the weather held and local residents came out in throngs for the area’s largest carnival parade. On Saturday, Reserve’s Krewe of Towahpasah rolled, enjoying its first rain-free outing in three years. The parade is very much a homegrown, community affair, and seeing someone they know on a float is not a rare occurrence for paradegoers.
