SCC hosts Alumni Cook-Off

The fifth annual SCC Alumni Cook-off was held recently. Alumni Brock Anderson chaired this event.

“We really enjoy this Friday night pre-football event each year because it brings our SCC Alumni and the entire community together,” said Drew Cupit, principal of St. Charles Catholic High School.

A total of ten teams cooked dishes that ranged from shrimp ettouffe to seafood gumbo. The cook-off began two hours prior to the homecoming game kick-off.

Judges for the battle of the paddle were St. John Police Officer Scott Boyinton, Special Teams Coach for the New Orleans Saints Greg McMahon and his father Jack McMahon, family practitioner and St. John the Baptist Parish Coroner Dr. Christy Montegut, General Manager and Managing Editor of L’Observateur David Vitrano and WWL Channel 4 News Reporter Monica Hernandez.  

The 2012 winner of the SCC Alumni Cook-off were Chefs Paul Jensen and David Desilvey, who were sponsored by Wayne Jones. They received the SCC paddle decorated by SCC art students.
