Deadlines Approaching to Apply for FEMA’s Public Assistance Funds

BATON ROUGE – Deadlines are approaching for state agencies, local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations to submit a Request for Public Assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Deadlines to submit requests for public assistance for all categories of work are:

Oct. 12 for St. Charles and St. James Parishes and Oct. 21 for St. John the Baptist Parish.

Supplemental funding under FEMA’s Public Assistance program is provided to the state and then forwarded to its eligible agencies, local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations. Under the program, FEMA obligates funds to the state for 75 percent of eligible costs, while the applicant covers the remaining 25 percent.
