The Hahnville High School theatre and music departments announce their production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” Performances will be Jan. 26 and 27 and Feb. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium. The production is directed and choreographed by Megan Harms with musical direction by Craig Matherne. The set design is by Lucas Harms with sound and lighting design by Justin Freitag.
This production features the authentic Broadway puppets of the plant as well as a live orchestra made up of community musicians and Hahnville High students.
“Little Shop of Horrors,” written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, tells the story of a down-and-out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore, who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination.
The HHS production stars Michael Jones as Seymour, Kate Prendergast as Audrey and John Brown and Sam Eastepp as Audrey II. The cast also stars Dillon Tauzin as Orin, Heather Bergeron as Crystal, Ellen Suss as Chiffon, Samantha Kennedy as Ronnette and Austin Breaux as Mushnik. Anthony Bate, Kaci Cazenave, Nicholas Carbo, Katie Abadie, Colton Rachal, Hannah Marcotte, Briar Falgoust and Chris Sullivan complete the cast.
This production promises to be enjoyable entertainment for the entire family. Tickets for adults are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets for children are $10 whether purchased in advance or at the door. For advance ticket reservations, email Megan Harms at mharms@stcharles.k12.la.us.
