Each year the LSU AgCenter helps gardeners and others learn about and enjoy gardening in Louisiana by publishing the “Get It Growing” calendar. The 2012 Get It Growing Lawn and Garden Calendar offers beautiful photos of plants, flowers and gardens from Louisiana garden scenes as well as monthly gardening tips from LSU AgCenter Horticulturist Dan Gill, who is known across the region for his expertise on Louisiana gardening. This calendar makes a great gift for family and friends and even for yourself.
The “Get It Growing” calendar, published annually since 2005, was developed in response to the demand and popularity of the LSU AgCenter’s lawn and garden information. The LSU AgCenter provides research-based information on useful topics of interest to Louisiana citizens, and gardening seems to be a favorite topic. The calendar continues to be a very popular educational resource for gardeners and great gift idea for anyone who enjoys photos of attractive garden scenes.
The full-color, 32-page, 9-inch by 13.25-inch calendar features a special section on Louisiana super plants, planting zones, soil testing and even an illustrated section on how to take a soil sample. The calendar also includes a list of LSU AgCenter lawn and garden publications as well as a list and contact information for all of the LSU AgCenter parish offices. It sells for $11.95 ($9.95 with the online coupon) plus shipping and handling and is available for online orders at www.lsuagcenter.com/GetItGrowingCalendar. Phone orders can be placed by calling 225-578-4161. Sample photos and more information may also be viewed the website.
