Ophelia Borne Baloney of Garyville, 92, passed over on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at River Parishes Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Urbin and Amy Sylvain Borne, beloved wife of the late Earl Baloney Sr., loving mother of Carl Baloney Sr. (Geraldine Broussard), Carmen M. Baloney (David Collins), Alona B. McDowell (Chester) and the late Earl Baloney Jr. (Sheila Grow), sister of the late Romalis Jasmin, Norman, Mathew, Isidore, Jonathan, Christopher, Roland and Ralph Borne, Eloise Borne Briscoe and Ollie Borne Hudson, niece of Rose Alexander and sister-in-law of Autherine Borne, Carol Lee Borne and John Hudson. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.

She was a native of Edgard and a resident of Garyville for over 75 years.

Mrs. Baloney, along with her husband, Earl Sr., founded Earl Baloney and Sons Mortuary and Funeral Home.

The family gives special thanks to caregivers Ada James, Francis Edwards, Diane Rainey and all who helped to care for her in their own way.

Services were held Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at True Light Baptist Church in Garyville. Entombment followed at Providence Park Mausoleum and Cemetery in Metairie. Professional services were entrusted to the Baloney Funeral Home of Garyville.
