LaPlace – Madaline King, a graduating senior at East St. John High School, was awarded the Ronald E. Thomas Memorial Scholarship on behalf of Louisiana Federal Credit Union. King’s outstanding essay — describing ways she would improve the local community — was selected among other graduating senior student entries. King plans to attend Louisiana State University this fall to study political science.
The $2,000 scholarship honors the late Ronald E. Thomas for his local and national contributions to the credit union movement. Thomas, who passed away in 2002, was a board member of Louisiana FCU for more than 65 years.
Louisiana FCU is committed to teen financial literacy, offering a variety of products that encourage teens to actively gain money management skills, track financial decisions and learn how to budget for their future.
