LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish narcotics agents on Thursday seized more than 14 pounds of “high grade” marijuana after a traffic stop in LaPlace, according to a Sheriff’s Office release.
Brandon Henderson, 24, of LaPlace was found to be in possession of 14.75 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $96,000, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office. Clement said the traffic stop was part of a narcotics investigation that also involved a United States Postal Inspector but would not reveal details of the investigation.
Henderson, who was in possession of a .45-caliber handgun during the traffic stop, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana as well as possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Henderson is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on a $145,000 bond.
