Kenneth “K.D.” Howell Sr., 68, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He was a captain with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Department, where he served for 12 years. He was also with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department for four years. He worked for 21 years with the Union Pacific Railroad.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Howell Jr. (Heidi); three daughters: Karen Howell Cash (Carey), Kathryn Howell and Kimberly Howell Cox; his former wife, Merble B. Howell; two brothers: Millard “Dixie” Howell (Bonnie) and Richard “Butch” Howell (Jean); two sisters: Ferol and Mary Ann Howell; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Howell and Emma Brown Howell, and grandson, Jai Polk.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. Funeral services will be held at 10 p.m. from the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with funeral expenses to First American Bank, 13355 Highway 90, Boutte, LA 70039.
