HAHNVILLE – A Destrehan businessman killed his wife and then killed himself after a domestic dispute at the couple’s home Thursday, according to a release from the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.

Carroll Charles Jr., 40, and Fenisha Charles, 38, were discovered lying dead on their bedroom floor by the couple’s 15-year-old daughter around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.

The daughter told deputies she was sleeping in another room when she heard gunshots. She then ran to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911.

Investigators said the couple were experiencing marital problems prior to the incident. During an argument at the couple’s Trepagnier Drive home Thursday night, Carroll Charles shot his wife twice before turning the gun on himself.

Fenisha Charles was a seventh grade teacher at R.K. Middle School in Luling, while Carroll Charles owned a construction and flooring company.

St. Charles school officials said counselors had been made available at the school to help students and teachers cope with the incident.
