Belle Terre Country Club has suspended its golf operations, it was announced last week.

“As a result of the current down turn in business revenue and during this economic cycle, we are better served shutting down the golf course and moving forward with planned improvements.” said Tim Duhe, owner of Belle Terre Country Club. “Between the economy and the weather conditions, we are at a point where it makes more since to stop what we are doing and get on with needed improvements rather than continue to thread water in this difficult economic cycle.

“We are hopeful that improvements can start very soon, and we can resume operations , but a re-open date has not yet been determined. We do expect to re-open with a higher quality golf course.

“The golf gods have not been too kind to the Duhe family, and while we have had many supporters, overall we have come up short in terms financial success.” added Duhe.

Duhe said the swimming pool operation, which is being upgraded with heating for year around swimming programs and school competition, the tennis program and the restaurant operations, including banquet events, will remain open during the golf course renovation period.
