United Way of St. Charles holds annual Bridge Run

Luling – United Way of St. Charles is hosting their 14th Annual 5K Bridge Run/Walk and Festival on Saturday, April 10, presented by Motiva Enterprises and Valero St. Charles Refinery.

The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan and crosses the Hale Boggs Bridge to the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. Winners of the 5K Bridge Run will receive a combined prize purse of $5,000 and custom race medallions.

Pre-registration is available for $25 per person until April 2. After April 2, race registration is $30 per person.

To register for the race, visit www.uwaysc.org or register in person at the United Way office, 13207 River Road in Luling. On-site registration is also available Friday, April 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bridge Park in Luling and on race day, Saturday, April 10, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Bridge Park in Destrehan.

After the Bridge Run, United Way of St. Charles is hosting a post race festival at the Bridge Park in Luling until 1 p.m. Admission to the post race festival is free. Attendees can enjoy music by Typikal Reason, food, games, crafts and much more.

United Way of St. Charles is also hosting a Little Bridge Run for children 12 and under. This half mile run is being held at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling following the 5K run. Registration for the Little Bridge Run is $5 per child. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and all participants will receive a ribbon.

Last year, over 1,800 runners and walkers participated in the Bridge Run. The Bridge Run is held each year to raise awareness of and funds for the United Way of St. Charles.

United Way of St. Charles is a nonprofit organization that works to create lasting changes in St. Charles Parish by funding agencies and developing program that target education, income and health.
