TARANTO
Daniel John Taranto, age 64, a native and resident of Paradis, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Hospital.
He was a retired operator with DuPont and a United States Army Veteran.
Visitation was Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.
The United Veterans League of Houma conducted full military honors and presented the flag to his son Joshua. The Progressive Masons of Reserve conducted the Masonic service.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemay Malbrough Taranto, Paradis; one son, Joshua D. Taranto and wife Chantel; three daughters, Angela Grigar and husband Michael and Charla Blankenship, all of Texas, and Lauren Taranto and husband Chris of LaPlace; one brother, Gaspar “Hoot” Taranto Jr. and wife Arlene, Paradis; and eight grandchildren, Dustyn, Desiree, Nicholas and Joseph, all of Texas, Brennan and Aubrie, both of Florida, and Terius and Christian, both of LaPlace. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gaspar Taranto Sr.
He was a member and past master of the Progressive Masonic Lodge of Reserve and a member of the Jerusalem Shriners.
