River Region Chamber of Commerce
As chair of the board of directors, it is a privilege and an honor to serve you this year. 2009 will be a very exciting year for the River Region Chamber of Commerce!
As I look back at the successes that we have accomplished, I am astonished! In just five short years, your River Region Chamber of Commerce has transformed into an organization this is considered the leader for representing business in the River Region. We have many milestones to look back on with pride. We have represented business in the state and local governmental arenas. We have voiced support for legislation favorable to economic development and job production and have voiced opposition for matters that may hinder business expansion or opportunities for growth. We have met with local officials to ensure that the business climate is one that stimulates positive outcomes.
We have committees that are working hard and dedicated to growing the River Region Chamber of Commerce. These are the Membership Development Committee, Education Committee, Communications Committee, and Public Policy Committee. We have a dedicated group of committee chairs and members and are always seeking more involvement from our membership. If you are interested in serving on any of these committees or finding out more about their specific plans of work, please contact the Chamber office. We welcome membership from ALL businesses in our Region and are excited at the opportunity to be the voice for ALL.
I realize that 2009 may bring challenges to many of our businesses due to a changing economic environment. Although we face some challenges, we also have tremendous opportunities in the River Region. We have major expansions in industry throughout our region and the potential for new businesses to locate here. Our existing business community is stronger than ever and still growing.
As we celebrate five years of dedication and service to the business community in St Charles, St James, and St John parishes, we realize that we are entering a new phase for the organization; one of growth, service, support of our businesses, and working hard to improve the quality of life for all. Our 2009 Program of Work is quite extensive and is specifically focused on service to our existing membership.
I take great pride in having the opportunity to serve our community by being involved in our Chamber and I challenge each business to get involved so that together we can make a difference!
