DESTREHAN – Despite a rainy Saturday, officials with Destrehan Plantation say their annual Spring Arts and Crafts Festival was a rousing success.
Nancy Robert, executive director for Destrehan Plantation and festival chairman, said the downpour did not keep the festival’s 150 arts and crafts vendors from cashing in.
“Even though it rained most of the day Saturday, we still saw many people walking away with bags full of stuff,” said Robert. “That’s always a good sign for the vendors. They know that inclement weather is nothing we can control, but they made the best of it.”
Robert said the rains of Saturday made for a very pleasant day Sunday. She said organizers are still assessing solid numbers regarding actual attendance.
“We had good sized crowds for both days,” said Robert. “The bands we scheduled were the best and they kept everyone entertained and having a good time.”
