The Air Force Junior Reserve Offices’ Training Corps (AFJROTC) at Hahnville High School’s LA-933’s Academic Challenge Team competed against 230 other AFJROTC teams from around the world in two on-line challenge levels within the last month.
During Level 1 of the competition, the students answered questions about AFJROTC knowledge, math, science, English and current events. The top 50 teams in Division 1 and 2 made it to Level 2 of the competition.
At this level the questions became increasingly harder and the time to answer was reduced in some areas. Again the questions were in the same categories. The top six teams in each division were selected to go to Washington, D.C. for head-to-head competition on April 24 through 26, 2009. Hahnville’s team was selected to make the trip to Washington, D.C. and will compete for up to $50,000 worth of scholarships for the team members.
