Hahnville picked up its second district victory of the season on Friday night, while at the same time keeping rival East St. John from attaining its first.

The Tigers captured a 3-0 victory over the Wildcats (7-9, 0-3) in Boutte to move to 2-1 in district play and 4-7-1 overall.

“We played pretty well, but what it came down to was that we just couldn’t score,” said East St. John Coach Paul Dupuy. “They made some really nice crosses that were very hard to defend.”

Aaron Ford, Blake Samaha and Brion James each scored goals for HHS (4-7-1, 2-1).

The Tigers first scored 20 minutes into the game on a header to make it 1-0.

“There wasn’t much our goalie (Marco Barrera) could do there,” said Dupuy. “They made a perfect cross. It was a beautiful play, and they caught him looking the other way.”

Hahnville scored again shortly before halftime to make it 2-0. The team’s third goal came in the second half.

“They wore us down,” said Dupuy. “They kept making runs, and had some perfectly timed passes to get their goals. You have to give them credit.”
