BY the L’Observateur

You may have noticed that things have seemed a little different in the pages of this newspaper lately. Over the coming weeks, L’Observateur will be changing even more.

We’ll be giving you, our readers, a wider variety of features than you’re used to seeing here.

Most of the changes will be to our Lifestyle section. Today, we’re starting our new SMILE page, featuring comics, puzzles, horoscopes and more. You can look for it in every edition from now on. We’re also bringing back the TV listings and plan to have expanded entertainment coverage in the future. You’ll now be able to look toward L’Observateur to find out if that movie is really worth seeing or maybe even to get the latest Hollywood gossip.

Additionally, you’ll notice Get High On Life is no longer at the bottom of this page. That’s because we’ve moved it to the Section B, where Harold Keller will serve as the anchor of our community page. Also, on Wednesdays, look for specially-dedicated education pages that will feature school pictures, news, teacher profiles and kids’ activities. So don’t forget to keep sending us those pictures of children living and learning in the River Parishes.

Another new thing to look for in the Lifestyle section include an expanded calendar of events. This is one we really need your help on. If you have an event you want the rest of the community to know about, send the information to us, and we’ll get it out there.

As far as the “A” section goes, you might have noticed our new feature “Who We Are” on the front page today. In each edition we’ll be profiling someone in the community, so if you know someone you’d like to see on page 1, let us know.

Also, this page, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, has been changing lately. We’re featuring new columnists and cartoons. Let us know how we’re doing. This is your newspaper.

We’re easy to get in touch with. Call us at 985-652-9545, e-mail us at lobnews@bellsouth.net, write to us at P.O. Box 1010, LaPlace, LA 70069 or drop by our office at 116 Newspaper Dr. (just off Main Street), LaPlace, LA 70068. We’re waiting to hear from you.

The River Parishes are changing and L’Observateur is changing with them.
