Reserve Christian’s district season came to an end Tuesday, its bid for the playoffs upended by Archbishop Hannan, which took a 25-10, 25-13, 25-16 win at Hannan.
It was the final district game for the Eagles (6-17, 5-5), who officially finish a game ahead of their 2007 district record.
Mistakes plagued Reserve against Hannan. The Eagles finished with 20 dropped balls and six serving errors.
Reserve Coach Michelle McGee had high hopes for her team entering the match, but said that the mistakes were too much for her team to overcome.
“I’m not sure where the team’s concentration was,” she said. “We had a total lack of focus…we fell apart.
Laci Felder had two kills for Reserve. Courtney Randle had one. Tiffani Serven had two assists, while Elise Michel had one.
Daysha Blount, Felder, and Victoria Michel combined for 7 digs.
McGee noted her team’s defensive effort as a bright spot.
“Hannan’s a dynamic team with skilled hitters. We were able to offer some defensive answers,” she said.
Reserve still has one game left, as the Eagles will host West St. John at 9 a.m. Saturday.
As far as the improvement within district play for RCS, McGee looks for greater things next season.
“I’m looking forward to a fresh district season. We’ll continue to make strides and achieve better, and then best, results.”
