LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John are looking for information regarding the identities of two individuals who allegedly robbed a LaPlace beauty store Wednesday afternoon.
Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the St. John Sheriff’s Office said investigating deputies were told that the two unidentified suspects who were wearing masks over their faces entered Beauty Outlet No. 2, located at 1613 W. Airline Hwy., around 3:30 p.m.
According to a report on the incident, once the suspects were inside, one of the men produced a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The cashier behind the counter, whose name was withheld, complied with the demands and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the gunman. The cashier was the only employee inside the store at the time of the robbery and no one was injured during the incident.
Tregre said that while the robbery was in process, a customer entered the store and the two suspects panicked and fled the scene from a rear door of the salon. The report did not include a clothing description of the suspects, and Tregre said no other information could be released at this time, since the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident should contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.
