Martin named CEO at LaPlace’s Martin International

LAPLACE – Martin International of Louisiana has announced Russell (Rusty) D. Martin as its new CEO.
This comes at a time when the school is celebrating over 26 years of quality U.S. Coast Guard license training.
Courses include U.S. Coast Guard Approved Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor, Ballast Control Operator, Able Seaman, Stability & Ballast Control for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, Radar Observer, Automatic Radar Plotting Aids, and First Aid/CPR.
Martin started in the business when he was 17 as an Ordinary Seaman with Otto Candies in Des Allemands, Louisiana.
Two years later he moved to Seahorse in Morgan City, Louisiana. The ensuing eight years he worked his way up the ladder to a Master 500 Gross Tons license in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Africa. Zapata Gulf Marine lured him away where for the next four years he continued his education and earned his Master 1000 Tons Freight and Towing and became their Director of Crew Coordination.
He worked for Tidewater in New Orleans for eight years, and for the last 10 years has instructed at Martin International. Recently, Martin became Captain of the company when he purchased it from his family and became the majority shareholder.
