Rose Francois is a wonderful example for any to follow

The people who are most afraid to die miss the excitement of living. The majority of the people I know fall into that category of just existing, not enjoying life.
The Bible says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Without joy, we are a weak witness for all that God has done for us. Having said that, I’m grateful for the many people that God has allowed me to meet in my journey toward eternity.
Mrs. Rose Francois has been one of the most unforgettable people I’ve ever met. I met her in 2001 when she started working for the L’Observateur. Because of her pleasant personality, lovely smile, and joyful spirit, we immediately became friends.
In 2004, Rose was diagnosed with breast cancer and treated with chemotherapy and radiation. She battled her sickness with faith, never losing her joy and never questioning God. In 2006, during a physical examination, she was told she had spots on her liver and back. This meant more chemotherapy and radiation.
With all her physical problems, Rose never allowed her spiritual life to be hindered.
Besides being my friend, she and my daughter, Ronny, have a close relationship.
Early this month, Ronny called and told me that my friend, Rose, was in the hospital. I found out that she had been having problems with her knee. A thorough examination showed a tumor wrapped around her spine. An emergency operation was performed and, again, Rose bounced back with a faith and trust in God stronger than ever.
This morning, she called and said that she was home. “How are you doing?” I asked. “Great!” she answered. “I went into surgery like Martha in the Bible (the busy bee), and came out like Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus. I then asked her a question, knowing the answer. “Are you afraid to die, Rose?” “Not at all, Mr. Keller,” was her reply. “I know my Lord.”
Rose is the type of person you almost envy, because in spite of her trials, she has a zest for living and no fear of death.
I thank God that He is teaching me a valuable lesson through Rose. Her husband, Timothy, her sons, Timothy, Jr. and Brent, and her three grandchildren, are blessed to have such a godly role model with so much love and trust in her God.
