Kindergarten students from Allemands Elementary enjoyed the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert was held at Destrehan High School. The title of the concert was, Early Explorers, Sorting with Sounds, Shapes and Patterns. Highlights from the concert included The Waltzing Cat. Student could listen to violin that sounded like whining cats.
The kindergarten students also enjoyed the, Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks. The kindergarten students enjoyed acting like chickens. Each of the areas highlighted a number of musical instruments. Before the students attended the field trip, music teacher, Ms. Wendy Bogen taught them about compositions, concert format, applause, audience behavior, and historical information about composers.
State Grade Level Expectations were also included to truly make this a unique, hands on learning experience. Many of the students said that they really enjoyed being able to touch the instruments.
