LAPLACE – St. Charles made it a clean sweep during the regular season for baseball in their three district games against Riverside with a 10-4 win over the Rebels on Tuesday.

Right off the bat, Riverside opened scoring in the top of the first. And with Jordan Porrier on the mound, the Rebels took that 1-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning before the Comets warmed up. There, the SCC offense sparked five runs to take control in the game, and with B.J. Cancienne on the mound, St. Charles worked themselves up to an 8-1 lead going into the fifth. Riverside managed another run in each of the final three innings, but couldn’t get the burst of base-runners that they needed.

The win puts the Comets at 22-5 on the season while the Rebels go to 19-5-2. Both teams have secured a playoff spot as the champions and runners-up, respectively, which gets started next weekend. Brackets are set to be released this Tuesday.
