Demond Carter named to All-American Team

He shines in Reserve for his leadership on and off the basketball court, but now Demond Carter of Reserve Christian School is about to join the national ranks of the basketball elite. Carter has been chosen as a final team member to play on the 2006 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Boys Team. The 29th anniversary game takes place on Wednesday, March 29 at San Diego State University’s Cox Arena at 7:00 p.m. (PST).

 As a McDonald’s All American Team Member, Carter will play among the top 24 male high school basketball players in the nation.

This year’s Boys Game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 p.m. (PST). And, for the fifth year, McDonald’s is hosting a Girls Game to spotlight outstanding high school female athletes.  The Girls Game tips of at 4:30 p.m. (PST) and will be broadcast on ESPN2 (April 6 at 10 a.m. PST).

McDonald’s All American alumni include such current and former NBA and NCAA superstars as Michael Jordan (retired) and Magic Johnson (retired), Kevin Garnett (Minnesota Timberwolves), Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets) and LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), as well as Shannon Brown (Michigan State), J.J. Reddick (Duke) and Dee Brown (Illinois).

Proceeds from the Game will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) of San Diego. In addition to the Ronald McDonald Houses, RMHC programs include the Ronald McDonald Family Room® and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® – extending the reach of the Charity to directly improve the health and well-being of children around the world.
