LAPLACE — St. Charles looked good from the mound and the batter’s box on Thursday in LaPlace, as the boys got a 10-0 win against Ridgewood and the girls got a 16-1 victory over DeLaSalle.

The Lady Comets win put them at 2-1 for the start of the season, and came in large part because of a solid defensive effort including Holly Vicknair at pitcher allowing only three hits in the game. Leading in the offensive side, Amanda Savoie went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, and was just a home run short of a full cycle. Lauren Coniglio went perfect from the box, batting 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Katie and Addie Reine also added to the output, combining for four hits while Bridgette Boe knocked in a pair of RBIs.

The Comets opened their game against Ridgewood just before the Lady Comets took the field, and offered a steady dose of RBIs on their way to the win.

Steven Duhe got the win for SCC on the mound, shutting out Ridgewood. Highlights included catcher Chris Waguespack opening the game up in the top of the fourth inning with a 2-run homer.
