Behind Reginald Lumar’s game high 22 points, the Tigers finished up district play for a perfect record in 5-5A competition as they scratched Destrehan 59-45 on Tuesday.
The win didn’t come easy for Hahnville as Destrehan led several times throughout the contest, including one time with just more than five minutes remaining in the game. But the Tigers buckled down on defense, allowing the Wildcats only two points in the remaining five minutes, while scoring 10 to put the game well in hand.
Brian Singleton and McArthur Strickland each scored 13 for the Tigers, while Tim Molten was the only Destrehan player to reach double figures with 11 points.
The win for Hahnville finishes off their regular season with a 25-6, which includes a perfect 8-0 in district.
The game was the final of the season for Destrehan as they compiled a respectable 17-16 record, but have gone 1-6 in district play.
With the district championship in hand for Hahnville, the Tigers look to take a high seed and home-court advantage in a run through the post-season tournament bracket, which tips-off this week.
