Ashlee Cooper leads the way with 11 kills, six blocks

LAFAYETTE– The Lady Wildcats have advanced to the quarterfinals of the state volleyball tournament after beating Archbishop Chapelle on Wednesday’s 5A playoff bracket in four games.

ESJ started out the match-up with a win in the first game after jumping out on top quickly for a 25-19 final.

Archbishop Chapelle kept things interesting when they dominated in the third game to even the match with a 11-25 win.

Things got rolling in the third game, when heated volleys left the score tight throughout, and ESJ squeaked by with a 25-16 victory to take a two-games-to-one lead.

The pivotal fourth game showed determination by the Lady Wildcats, as they battled to a 25-11 win to finish off Chapelle’s post-season.

Leading East St. John, Ashlee Cooper recorded 11 kills and six blocks.
