LULING- A Luling woman has been arrested in the stabbing death of one of her neighbors and booked with relative to second-degree murder, authorities said.
Keiana Holmes, 25, of 800 Paul Frederick Street, was arrested Sunday in connection with the murder of Freddie L. Scott, 26, of 907 Paul Frederick Street. According to Maj. Sam Zinna, spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the two were part of a gathering in the early morning hours Sunday near Scott’s residence.
Zinna said the pair took a walk toward the 800 block, where they got in an altercation with each other. Holmes ran back to the 900 block and armed herself with a knife, and stabbed Scott once in the chest. Scott was then taken to St. Charles Hospital, where he later died in surgery.
Delta Scott, Scott’s sister, said she is unsure of the details of what happened, but heard that a witness said he did not realize Holmes stabbed Scott until later.
“They just thought she punched him,” Scott said, “When she stabbed him, he just took off running.”
Scott also said the two were not romantically involved in any way, and no one knows what they were fighting about.
“Nobody knows anything except the two of them,” Scott said.
Holmes remains in the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center, with a $150,000 bond.
