Zephyrs to start 2005 with familar local faces

Metairie, LA – The New Orleans Zephyrs have announced the 23 players that will tentatively comprise their opening day roster when they began the season on Thursday night in Nashville, Tennessee.
The new look Zephyrs will return one player that has been with the Z’s in the past, pitcher Brian Powell played in New Orleans in 1999, 2000, 2001. The club will have a Louisiana flavor with three pitchers from the Pelican State. LHP Ed Yarnall (left) and RHP Roy Corcoran (center) both reside in Louisiana and played collegiate baseball at LSU, and RHP Chad Durbin (right) is a native of Baton Rouge, . Eleven of the Zephyr players were in the Major Leagues last season and 16 of the players have Major League experience.
The Z’s will also have some of the Nationals best prospects with 1b Larry Broadway, 2b Brendan Harris, RHP Josh Karp and centerfielder Tyrell Godwin. Six foot, eleven inch pitcher Jon Rauch, a 2000 US Olympian will be one of the starting pitchers and holds the record for tallest pitcher in Major League Baseball history.
