RESERVE-With Josh Labiche permanently back in the Riverside lineup, the Rebels won a pair of games this past week in convincing fashion over Assumption, 9-1 and over Hanson, 11-1.
With the pair of wins, Head Coach Steve Stropolo’s Rebels are now 11-3 on the season.
In addition to the 20 combined runs scored, Riverside got a pair of excellent performances on the mound Jordan Porrier (5-0) picked up the win against Assumption and Jonathan Giroir (2-1) was the winning pitcher for the Rebels against Hanson.
Labiche was the start at the plate, going 3-3 against Assumption, including a home run in the 9-1 victory.
Stropolo said he is happy with the way his team is playing and especially happy to have a bat like Labiche’s back in the lineup.
“We are playing well, but we are still young,” Stropolo said. “We are starting to gel a little bit.
“It’s great to have Josh back full-time. When he started, we had already played four games, so the other players had a lot more at-bats than he did. He didn’t have any. We are hitting Josh third in the batting order right now. He is just going to need some time to get his timing down and that will just come with more at-bats.”
Stropolo was also pleasantly surprised by the pair of pitching performances that he got.
“They really did pitch well,” Stropolo said. “Jordan pitched really well against Assumption and Jonathan only gave up one hit against Hanson and that was to the lead-off batter. That was it after that.”
