AINEY

MT. AIRY – Orelia Ainey, 77, a native and resident of Convent, died Nov. 20. She was the daughter of the late Adam Sr., and Blanche Darensbourg Ainey, and sister of Victoria Adams and Florence Ainey, and the late Amelia Shorty, Josephine Wilkerson, Melvin David Sr., and the Rev. Adam Ainey.

Services were Nov. 23 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent.

BUTLER

LAPLACE – Jerry “Half-Pint” Butler, 22, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Nov. 6. He was the son of Darryl Patterson and Jacquelyn Merritt, stepson of Ronald Merritt, brother of Tabatha Joseph, and stepbrother of Tanya Dennis, Davanna Patterson, Shitasha and Denise Evans, Chevette Merritt, Keyionna Joseph, Darryl and Timmy Evans, Kyle Patterson, Ronald Merritt, Shentel Merritt and Gregory Joseph Jr.

Services were Nov. 16 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

FISHER

LAPLACE – Kenneth James Fisher, 61, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for 29 years, died Nov. 20. He was the husband of Mary Claire Melancon Fisher and father of Connie Powell, Donna Marman, and the late Glenn Fisher.

He was also the son of the late Leonard Sr., and Esther Maloney Fisher, and brother of Kay Blocker, Louis Jack Fisher, Michael Fisher, and the late Leonard Fisher Jr.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was also the owner and operator of Fisher Ace Hardware.

Services were Nov. 22 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie.

PRESTON

MONTZ – Khadijah “Noonie” “Tee-Hee” Preston, 10, a native of Garyville and resident of Reserve, died Nov. 15. She was the daughter of Chandra Preston and Kelon Gardner, stepdaughter of Alvin Thomas, sister of Kevia and Kashandrfa Preston and Kelon Gardner Jr.

She was also the grandchild of Shelia Preston, Theresa Washington, Arthur Davis, and the late Kevin Thomas Sr.

Services were Nov. 20 at Providence Baptist Church, Montz, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

SMITH

NORCO – Ronald “Smith” “Big Daddy” Smith, 61, a native and resident of Norco, died Nov. 15. He was the father of Taja, Troya and Desmond Smith, and friend of Veronica Cousin.

He was also the son of James Smith Jr., and the late Eldonia Turley Smith, and stepson of Bernetta Smith, brother of Mildred Blount, Sandra Campbell, Yvonne Gaudet, Jimmie, Otis and DeRon Smith, and stepbrother of McArthur Webster, Dennis, Nathaniel, Murphy and Ezell Wheeler.

Services were Nov. 22 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco, with interment at Montz Memorial Park Cemetery, Montz.

STONE

EDGARD – Victoria Gale Stone, 75, a native of Killona and resident of Edgard, died Nov. 16. She was the mother of Jackie Campbell-DeBaptizer, Louise Stone, and the late Annie Mae Mitt. She was the companion of Stanley Barre.

She was also the daughter of the late William and Pearl Gale, and sister of Caroline Borne, Angie Cannon, and the late Angelina Gale and Matthew Gale Sr.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were Nov. 20 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

THOMAS

NORCO – Richard “Richie Rich” Thomas Smith, 28, a native of Baltimore, Md., and resident of Norco, died Nov. 19. He was the father of Mazie, Paige and Chance Smith, and companion of Holly Duhe.

He was also the son of Richard and Debbie Smith and brother of Stephanie Carey.

He was an all-star baseball player in high school and was an avid sportsman.

Services were Nov. 23 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco.
