Comets cruise to decisive win

Topple Benton, 56-18
BENTON — Tyrell Fenroy rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns and added 80 yards receiving and a touchdown as visiting St. Charles Catholic rolled to a 56-18 victory over Benton last night.
Benton scored the first touchdown of the game, but after that, the contest belonged entirely to the Comets.
St. Charles, which cruised to a 42-14 victory over Patterson in its playoff opener last week, answered Benton’s score when quarterback Jesse Martin hit Casey Robottom for a 58-yard touchdown to give the Comets a 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The St. Charles offense went on a scoring rampage in the second period as it outscored its foe 28-6 to make it a 35-12 game at halftime.
Martin had a brilliant game for the Comets as he helped spearhead the offensive assault. The St. Charles Catholic field general finished the game completing eight of his 14 passes for 241 yards and he threw for four touchdowns.
Two of those touchdown strikes went to Robottom, who finished with two receptions and 114 yards.
Demond Wheatley was the top offensive threat for Benton. Wheatley finished th contest with 154 yards rushing and he had two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.
After Martin and Robottom hooked up for a 56-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to make it 14-6, Wheatley caught a 42-yard pass from Brent Lylas for a score that made it 14-12.
Fenroy, however, took over from there.
The St. Charles standout got in on the aerial show by catching a 63-yard touchdown pass from Martin and, before the second quarter came to a close, he ran in touchdowns from 20 and one yard away for the Comets.
In the third quarter, Matt Sutton caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Martin and Fenroy added a 61-yard score.
Jarvis Sanders had a nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to round out the Comets scoring.
